Worst Flooding in a Decade Hits Western Nepal

The worst flooding to hit Nepal’s western region in a decade—caused by heavy monsoon rains—has killed at least 50 people. Floodwaters from the Rapti River—one of the country's largest rivers—affected as many as 60,000 villagers in 13 districts. Bardiya, Banke and Achham districts 600-800 kilometers west of the capital, Kathmandu, are the worst hit. The flooding has destroyed the farms, killed nearly 2,000 animals, and more than 10,000 tons of food stocks.

Nepal has sought international help worth US $3.58 million to provide emergency relief. But urgently needed medical help and food aid has not extended to the most remote areas, even as flooding and landslides continue to make their situation more precarious.

Inaugration of "Mithila Nepal Gallery" with the exhibition " Lives in Colors"

JHC has organized a fifteen days long Lives in Colors Art Exhibition from 30^th May to 15^th June 2013, in Mithila Nepal Gallery, Thamel, Kathmandu. This exhibition programme has been organized in favour of giving encouragement to sense the validity of Maithili women artists dwindling traditions and enhancement of their confidence, initiative and incentive to show their artistic value.

The exhibition was initiated by the inauguration programme of Mithila Nepal Gallery on 30^th of May 2013. The exhibition in Mithila Nepal Gallery was very unique and a mezzo level exhibition focusing on the promotion of Mithila Art and the region. And the most important part of the inauguration programme was the presence of the art lovers from pasadena city of california. 

 

JHC Introduces "Mithila Nepal Art Gallery" in Pasadena

Janakpur Handicraft Center in Pasadena is pleased to announce for the grand opening of Mithila Nepal - the only evening Art Gallery in heart of Pasadena City. Mithila Nepal is a unique art gallery currently locating at different locations in Nepal and United States. The gallery's model is build on posterity rather than prosperity, which means a long term view on working with all kinds of Art lovers from all around the world to bring all women together for change. All locations have different looks based on the locality but same expressions of art.

 

An important aspect of Mithila Nepal's work process is that customers are treated as partners with full access of Gallery's planning and events work. The focus of the gallery is to be known internationally for it's leading dedication to promote and encourage new Artists to exhibit their talents all around the world. Mithila Nepal Gallery is just a medium to honor artists and their Art works. 

                                            

Lives in Colors

 Janakpur Handicraft Center in Pasadena is pleased to announce for the grand opening of Mithila Nepal - the only evening Art Gallery in heart of the city, with the first exhibition "Lives in Colors" - Artwork by over 15 women artists from Nepal and India.

Opening Reception: Thursday, May 30th 6-10pm

All works of these women artists can take you to a different life style which you have never seen or experienced. Witness the world of colors in mythological way with extremity of village life.

Arts show how women living in remote villages make themselves happy and fill hope in their lives.

Starting off with incredible event of HENNA TATTOO organized for the entertainment of guests on the opening day. The night will be filled with art, music, food, wine, and soft beverages! A PHOTOGRAPHER will also be available for all guests to get in spirit of art and express themselves in the most creative way! 

This is a FREE EVENT !! And families, as well as our business community is welcomed!

Any funds raised from sale of art work will be used to support the Underprivileged women in Nepal and India.

New arts by JHC Artists

International Women's Day 2012

Every year on 8 March, JHC celebrates International Women's Day by hosting a flagship programme consisting of round-tables, exhibitions and cultural events in Janakpur with the women artists that highlight issues relating to the empowerment of women and the promotion of Mithila Art.

This year JHC has brought the celebration overseas to U.S with a new theme to encourage women. The theme of this year's programme is "Make a chain of help: pathway for women to make change". It mirrors key elements to support the women empowerment programme conduct by JHC and make contribution to City of Hope to fight against breast cancer.

For the women of the world, International Women’s Day is not only an occasion to review how far we have come in our fight for equality, peace and development, but also an occasion to mobilize for sustainable change.

It is a celebration of the achievements and contributions of each to the collective objective of gender equality and we hope that their commitment, determination and achievements set an inspiration for others.
